Take Action Against COVID is a pro-public-health, independent grassroots group in Saskatoon/Treaty 6 Territory. We are not medical professionals, but like many medical personnel and authorities, we are deeply concerned about the Saskatchewan government’s disinterest in dealing with COVID. We are concerned about the province’s shunning of public health measures like indoor masking, and weakening the availablility and usefulness of information on COVID’s prevalence in Saskatchewan, so that we can protect ourselves. The provincial government’s messaging is all but declaring that “COVID is over.”
As of late August 2022, COVID deaths in Canada have surpassed COVID deaths for all of 2021.
One of the direst consequences of this neglect, however, is the condition of “Long COVID,” or COVID symptoms that persist long after the initial infection has come and gone, often after a latency period.
While being up-to-date with COVID vaccines and boosters probably improves our chances of not contracting Long COVID symptoms, they do not fully prevent these conditions. This raises the possibility that without serious public health intervention, and with COVID allowed to spread like colds, COVID will become a mass disabling event.
This page is dedicated to Long COVID Resources and will change and be updated as scientific consensus about Long COVID changes and/or COVID-concerned virologists and immunologists learn more about the condition.
